§ Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT those consumer goods which are likely to be reduced in price, and those which are likely to be increased, in the event of Great Britain entering the European Economic Community.
§ Mr. RipponPrices of consumer goods would be affected by a number of factors in the event of Britain joining the Communities. It would not be appropriate to specify individual items since the overall result will depend upon the relative 155W effect of removal of tariffs, and, to some extent, on how individual manufacturers respond to the opportunities in an enlarged Community.
§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has received the letter from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament on the European Economic Community and defence, dated 22nd June, 1971 ; and if he will publish his answer in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
§ Mr. Anthony RoyleI have nothing to add to the reply which I gave on 13th July to the hon. Member for West Ham, North (Mr. Arthur Lewis).—[Vol. 821, c.69.]
