§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThe information available relates only to defended and undefended proceedings. The total cost met by the Legal Aid (Scotland) Fund during the five years from 1965–66 to 1969–70 was £2,162,000. This amount was partially offset by contributions received and expenses recovered. The number of agents who may be remunerated in respect of any one action will depend on the nature of the proceedings and the circumstances of parties.
