HC Deb 08 February 1971 vol 811 cc37-8W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will give as much information as may be readily available of the occasions on which Members abroad on official business have used official cars; and whether in future he will keep detailed records of such usage.

Mr. Anthony Royle

I explained to the hon. Member on 25th January that records are not kept to show all the occasions on which Members on official business have used official cars. The cost involved in keeping special records of this nature in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office could not be justified.

All official requirements are satisfactorily met by the existing methods of recording vehicle usage overseas, and I see no need for any change in the system.—[Vol. 810, c. 18.]
