Mr. Oswald

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the average period for which adult males registered at the employment exchanges in the Edinburgh area during the period June to December, 1970, inclusively were unemployed.

At 11 th January there were 8,245 persons—7,309 males and 936 females—registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Edinburgh, Leith and Portobello Employment Exchanges.
