HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 c450W
Mr. Dormand

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the number of persons who obtained the Certificate in Social Work in each of the years 1966 to 1970, and the number expected to qualify this year.

Mr. Alison

The figures are as follows:

facturing industry; and what percentage this represents of the insured population of the county.

Mr. Peter Thomas

In 1969, the latest year for which figures are available, there were 1,280 employees in manufacturing industry in Cardiganshire; this represents 8.9 per cent. of the employee population of the county. It is not possible to express the figure as a meaningful percentage of the insured population.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many inquiries have been made since 18th June to the Welsh Office by manufacturing firms which are interested in coming into mid-Wales and Cardiganshire, respectively.

Mr. Peter Thomas

None to the Welsh Office, since inquiries of this nature are normally directed to the Office for Wales of the Department of Trade and Industry.
