asked the Secretary of State for Wales when it is expected that work will be able to commence on the Borth sea defence scheme.

The Aberystwyth Rural District Council has said it hopes to be ready to start in May. This scheme falls in the category of "locally determined schemes" under Circular 116/70, and, in accordance with the statements by my hon. Friend and myself in the Welsh Grand Committee on 20th January, my officials will be meeting local officials in Aberystwyth on Saturday next to discuss any problems that may arise.
