Mr. Pentlandasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the representations that have been made to him from all sources in which his attention is drawn to the position of retired pensioners and other recipients of social security benefits, and the reply he has given to such representations;
(2) what recent representations he has received from the Trades Union Council and other bodies regarding the position of retired pensioners and other recipients of social security benefits; and what reply he has sent.
§ Sir K. JosephMany bodies have expressed concern at the effect of rising prices on retirement pensioners and others dependent on social security benefits. A list of such representations cannot be readily compiled. Replies have stressed that the poorest received an increase of supplementary benefit last November, and that a review of benefits is forthcoming.
