59. Mr. Bob Brown
asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people were in receipt of supplementary allowances on 18th June, 1970, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Newburn Urban District, respectively; and how many were in receipt at the latest available date.
§ Mr. Dean
I regret that the information is not available in this form. On 16th June, 1970, just under 33,400 persons were receiving supplementary benefits (including both pensions and allowances) in the areas covered by the Department's offices serving the county borough of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the urban district of Newburn. On 15th December, 1970, the number was just over 34,100.
