§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will give an assurance that it is not the intention of Her Majesty's Government to impose a charge for the borrowing of books from public libraries now under the control of local authorities.
§ Mrs. ThatcherThe Government have no intention of introducing charges for these libraries other than those which are already permissible under Section 8 of the Public Libraries and Museums Act, 1964.
