asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Government of India to hasten the payment of compensation to nationalised British insurance companies and to provide for the repatriation of their funds.

The British High Commission in New Delhi has on several occasions made clear to officials of the Indian Finance Ministry our concern that the compensation to be paid should2W be prompt, adequate and freely remittable across the exchanges in accordance with the established principles of international law.
