asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much gaming machines licence duty has been paid during each of the years in which it has been levied; and what proportion of the total amount collected was in respect of holiday season licences.

Holiday season licences first came into force from 1st March, 1970. Those issued before the end of the financial year 1969–70 to cover the period 1st March to 31st October accounted for 7.8 per cent. of the total receipts in that year. The proportion in 1970–71 was 8.6 per cent.
