§ Mr. David Stoddartasked the Secretary of State for the Environment in view of the continuing danger to motorists on the newly opened stretch of the M4 motorway at Swindon due to shortage of emergency telephone facilities, when he expects equipment to be supplied and what he intends to do to expedite delivery.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineAction has already been taken to expedite delivery and more telephones are expected to become available within the next few weeks. Subject to weather conditions, these should be in commission on M4 by the early spring. They will then be at the standard one-mile spacing.
