§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science in view of the unintelligibility of, and delay in paying, the award following a claim submitted by the Association of Teachers in Technical Institutions, if she will instruct her representatives on the Burnham Committee to make proposals to improve the Committee's machinery and to speed up negotiations and settlements.
§ Mrs. ThatcherI was not responsible for the framing of the arbitrators' recommendations nor for the delay.
As to improving the machinery of the Burnham Committees, I am ready at any time to consider constructive proposals which have broad support on both sides.
