HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 cc383-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for reports from chief constables setting out all reports that have come into the possession or hearing of the police during the past three years as to the whereabouts of Mr. William Ross Wright, formerly of the Pinnock Finance Company Limited; and how those reports were investigated.

Mr. Sharples

As the hon. Gentleman will be aware from the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Attorney General to a Question from him on 24th May, the Director of Public Prosecutions has taken the view that police inquiries would not be warranted. Two reports were, however, received by the Metropolitan police. Neither identified Mr. Ross Wright.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what inquiries have been made during the past three years of Interpol and other international policing facilities, as to the whereabouts of Mr. William Ross Wright, formerly of the Pinnock Finance Company Limited; with what results; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sharples

The answer to the first two parts of the Question is, "None".

Mr. Sharples

No police officers visited Australia.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what checks have been put on at any time during the past three years to prevent the movement through the ports and airports of this country of Mr. William Ross Wright, formerly of the Pinnock Finance Company Limited.
