§ 46. Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what areas of derelict land are next being officially visited by him on Tyneside; and what derelict areas have already been surveyed and arrangements made for clearance in the North-East.
§ Mr. Graham PageMy right hon. Friend is going to Northumberland in November to discuss reclamation of derelict land with the local authorities there, including those on Tyneside. All the local authorities in the North-East have surveyed their areas for derelict land, and local authority schemes for the reclamation of 717 acres at an estimated cost of £1.2 million were approved for grant purposes in 1970–71. This compares with £900,000 for 455 acres in 1969–70.
