HL Deb 04 August 1971 vol 323 c1254WA
LORD GARNER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In which Commonwealth countries United Kingdom passport holders, after entry, are required to register with the police.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE (THE MARQUESS OF LOTHIAN)

Sierra Leone and Malaysia impose this requirement on all United Kingdom passport holders. The Gambia, Barbados and Gibraltar restrict it to those taking up employment or residence, and India to missionaries and United Kingdom passport holders of Chinese descent. In Pakistan, only those United Kingdom passport holders ordinarily resident in Kenya are required to register with the police.
