Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Prime Minister whether he will make a Ministerial broadcast on 18th June, 1971 195W to explain the Government's achievements since June, 1970 in cutting prices, reducing the cost of living, improving the purchasing value of the £ sterling, reducing unemployment, reducing the number of civil servants and Government expenditure, and reducing industrial disputes; and whether he will, during such programme, give official facts and figures to show to what extent the Government's policy is succeeding.
§ The Prime MinisterI will bear in mind the suggestion of a broadcast on 18th June. If I did so, I should be able to describe the rapidly accelerating inflation which we inherited from our predecessors, and the substantial progress made by the Government towards restoring a soundly-based economy.
