§ Mr. Delargyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will 140W introduce legislation to ensure that all vehicles plying for passenger-hire are registered with local authorities.
§ Mr. SharplesThere is already statutory provision enabling boroughs and urban district councils to license vehicles which ply for hire and to make byelaws regulating their use. Where this power has been exercised it is an offence for an unlicensed vehicle to ply for hire.
