§ Mr. Gordon CampbellWe have removed the limit on local authority lending for house purchase and have told authorities that they are free to sell council houses. Stamp duty on mortgages for house purchase is to be abolished, and other measures announced by my right hon. Friend in his Budget statement will also help. We will announce further measures in due course.
