§ 34. Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether, in view of the refusal of the Department of Health and Social Security to refund bus fares to persons travelling to employment exchanges to collect unemployment benefit, he will arrange for claims for unemployment benefit to be made in Selkirk to persons resident there.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithNo. People who live in Selkirk and are receiving unemployment benefit normally get it by post. This arrangement could not, of course, operate during the recent postal strike, but it has now been resumed and I see no reason to change it.
