§ Mr. William Hannanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the delay and difficulties experienced by the Association of University Teachers (Scotland) in their application for membership of the Scottish Council for Research in Education; and if he will inquire into the circumstances, and take steps to ensure that the association's request for representation is accepted.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI am aware of the Association's desire to be granted membership of the Council, but the Council is an autonomous body and I do not have power to say what bodies should be represented on it.
