§ Sir K. JosephAt 30th September, 1970, 5,367 doctors in the consultant grade in England and 200 in Wales held 73W paid part-time contracts and were thereby entitled to engage in private practice. These represented 63 per cent. of all consultants in England and Wales with paid National Health Service contracts.
