§ Mr. William Rodgersasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a revised table for 1968–69, taking account of fuller information now available, to show the amounts of Members' expenses allowed for income tax purposes against their remuneration as Members of Parliament, together with such comparable figures for 1969–70 as can at present be obtained.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe table below brings up to date the 1968–69 figures published on 25th November, 1969.
As from 1st October, 1969, a Member has been able to draw a cash allowance of up to £500 a year for secretarial expenses which he incurs on parliamentary duties. The allowance to which he is entitled is deductible from expenses incurred to arrive at the amount allowable against his remuneration for tax purposes. For 1969–70 the table shows separately admissible expenses before and after deduction of the appropriate secretarial expenses allowance.
31WThe table includes only those cases where final figures are available. Ministers have not been included.
