HC Deb 27 November 1970 vol 807 c244W
Mr. Warren

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the finding by the Parliamentary Commissioner in the case of E. R. Mansell, that, owing to the maladministration of the Estate Duty Office, the two beneficiaries have suffered considerable loss, he will reconsider his decision that no compensation can be given to the beneficiaries.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

This matter has been considered again most carefully. I am afraid that in all the circumstances of this case it would not be appropriate to pay compensation.
