§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether he will make the screening by the British Broadcasting Corporation on its television trade card of a reference to the legal obligation for owners of television sets to purchase a licence a pre-condition of his agreement to an application for an increase in the licence fee.
§ Mr. ChatawayIt would not be appropriate for me to give the B.B.C. a direction on this matter; but the B.B.C. already co-operates fully on radio and television with my publicity campaigns informing users of television sets of the need to possess the appropriate television licences.
However, I have no doubt that the B.B.C. will study the hon. Member's suggestion.
