§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Employment on what date and by what amounts or percentages the salaries of staff in his Department were increased since October, 1964; and whether he will give similar details for any employee who was on £3,250 per annum.
103W
§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister for the Civil Service on what dates and by what amounts or percentages the salaries of staff in his Department have been increased since October, 1964; and whether he will give details of any other Government employees who were then earning £3,250 per annum.
§ Mr. David HowellI have been asked to reply.
Because of the very large numbers of grades involved and, in the case of individual Departments, the movement of civil servants between posts it would be impracticable to provide the information on salary movements asked for by the hon. Member in the terms stated. Since the superannuation schemes for civil servants (embodied in the Superannuation Act, 1965) and for M.P.s (embodied in the Ministerial Salaries and Members' Pension Act, 1965) are differently based a detailed point-by-point comparison would be difficult to make.
