Mr. George Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many redundant miners over 55 years of age are in receipt of benefit under the 1967 Coal Act in the Morpeth constituency and in England, Scotland, and Wales, respectively.

In England, Scotland and Wales on 26th September, 1970, the numbers of redundant mineworkers age 55 and over in receipt of benefit under Section 3 of the Coal Industry Act, 1967, were 18,531, 2,161 and 2,998 respectively. These figures are not maintained on a constituency basis.
