HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 cc429-30W
Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is aware of the number of cases of people over 50 years of age who may have served in a firm for 12 years or more, having to be given notice through ill-health and thereby forfeiting their right to redundancy payment and possible schemes for benefit one retirement; and whether he will amend his regulations to provide that a percentage of redundancy payment can be made to them.

Mr. Bryan

As I explained on 12th November in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Leicester, North-West (Mr. Greville Janner), I do not think it would appropriate to make payments under the Redundancy Payments Scheme to employees who are dismissed in such circumstances.—[Vol. 806, c. 587.]
