asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how United Kingdom total export figures for the years 1958 to 1969 compare with those of the countries of the European Communities, from information available to him from international sources.

With permission, I will publish a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT. In terms of United States dollars, the average annual rate of growth of E.E.C. exports between 1958 and 1969 was 11½ per cent., or 8½ per cent. excluding intra-trade between the member countries, compared with 6 per cent. for United Kingdom exports.
