HC Deb 12 November 1970 vol 806 cc257-8W
Mr. Money

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider introducing legislation for more stringent control of over-fishing of close shore territorial waters, in particular with regard to the enforcement of minimum weight limits for the catching of small fish.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

My right hon. Friend and I are satisfied that under existing legislation any necessary conservation measures can be introduced. There are already minimum length provisions among some of the current restrictions, and these are more useful as conservation measures and more easily enforced than weight restrictions. However if my hon. Friend has a specific problem in mind he might care to write to me.
