HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 c137W
Dr. Gilbert

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the amount of tax lost to the Exchequer each year by reason of the fact that charities are exempt from taxes on their investment income.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The tax repaid to charities in the year ending 30th September, 1969 amounted to about £59 million. Information about income received by charities otherwise than under deduction of tax is not available.
