HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 c17W
Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is now the total annual outlay by his Department for the promotion of exports and overseas trading, including overseas and other trade delegations, exhibitions, and the work of such organisations as the British National Export Council; and what assessment he has made of the benefits of Government promotion of this type.

Mr. Anthony Grant

The estimated total cost of export promotion activities of the Department of Trade and Industry, including the grant to the British National Export Council, is £11 million. This includes staff costs and overheads.

I am satisfied that industry recognises that the activities of the Department in this field yield benefits.
