HC Deb 05 November 1970 vol 805 c439W
82. Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will recommend the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into competition and its effect on prices.

Mr. Ridley

No. The Government accept that the problem of rising prices is best tackled by the promotion of competition, and we are now urgently examining ways of making more effective the machinery established for this purpose.
