asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the proposed future expenditure on the urban programme of Exchequer-aided local authority expenditure under the Local Government Grants (Social Need) Act,

† Includes students attending colleges administered by local education authorities and 3 colleges administered by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland. The figures relate to total enrolments in each academic year.

‡ Employment figures relate to regular whole-time workers; regular part-time workers, and seasonal and casual workers. The figures exclude the farmer himself, his wife and any school-children working on the farm. They are derived from the census conducted in June of each year by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland.

The programme is at present planned on the basis that local authorities will have undertaken £20–25 millions of expenditure over the period 1968 to 72, and up to £40 millions of expenditure over the period 1972 to 1976
