Mr. Gorstasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will introduce proposals to ensure greater Parliamentary accountability in those nationalised industries, such as posts and telecommunications, in which the corporations enjoy monopolistic powers and are not subject to competition from free enterprise organisations.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThere are already quite comprehensive arrangements for Parliamentary accountability. In their Green Paper on Select Committees of the House of Commons (Cmnd. 4507) the Government have proposed that the Select Committee on Nationalised Industries should be retained.
