HC Deb 03 November 1970 vol 805 c318W
73. Major-General James d'Avigdor-Goldsmid

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an estimate of the amount of man-hours that will be saved to industry and the public service by the introduction of investment allowances instead of investment grants.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

In the case of the public services the ending of the Investment Grant Scheme will eventually result in a saving of about 1,000 staff. I am confident that the change in the system of investment incentives will significantly reduce the administrative load on industry.
