§ Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will initiate legislation to enable grants to be paid by his Department for the improvement of farm roads.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartMinistry grants are already available towards the cost of improving private farm roads. Improvements to unadopted public roads serving farms may also qualify for grant if the roads will afterwards be taken over by the local highway authority. Under the new Farm Capital Grant Scheme, to be introduced on 1st January, 1971, we shall continue to give grants for these improvements. Until 18th March, 1972 the normal rate of grant will be 40 per cent., with a 60 per cent. rate for works which benefit hill land or have resulted from farm amalgamations and boundary adjustments. After that the rates will be 30 per cent. and 50 per cent.
