HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 cc281-2W
Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the continuing outflow to the United States of America of British trained general practitioners from the National Health Service, when he proposes to implement the recent Kindersley Report in order to maintain the efficiency of the Service.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will now make a statement regarding the Government's decision on the doctors' pay award.

Mr. Alison

My right hon. Friend informed the professions on 7th August of the Government's decision that a further general increase for consultants, general practitioners and general dental practitioners, in addition to the 15 per cent. already paid, should be limited to 5 per cent. over the 1969 levels, the total increase to last for one year from 1st April, 1970.
