Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will give a list of the various persons employed in state board appointments for which he is responsible, the type of appointment held and the salary received; and whether he will increase all of these salaries by 20 per cent.

Mr. Mackie:

I would refer my hon. Friend to the White Paper on public Boards of a commercial character (Cmnd. 4245). This lists on pages 21 and 22 the public boards for appointments to which my right hon. Friend has responsibility in whole or in part, viz., Sugar Board, White Fish Authority and its Committee for Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the Herring Industry Board. The salaries of those serving on these bodies are kept under review. The Sugar Board salaries shown in the White Paper include a recent increase, and since the White Paper was issued other salaries have also been increased as follows:
