the English regions, Scotland and Wales estimated outward and inward migration of males of working age and of males and females of all ages each year since 1960 to the latest available date.

Mr. Crosland:

Migration figures in the form requested by the hon. and gallant Member exist only for census years. Those for 1965–66 are given in the table but comparable figures for 1960–61 are not readily available because of differences in regional boundaries. For other than census years, only net annual estimates of gross movement, including that to and from overseas, can be obtained. Because of changes in the basis of compilation, annual averages only are readily available for the periods 1962–66 and 1966–68; these are given in the table, together with the figures for 1968–69, the latest year available.
