HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 c631W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will make a progress report on the work of his Department's existing Community Development teams and on his plans for the extension of such work.

Mr. Crossman:

In two of the four first phase areas, Coventry and Liverpool, local project directors and teams have been working since early this year. In the third, Southwark, work will begin in September, a project director having recently been appointed. In Glamorgan, work has not yet started.

These teams are appointed, in consultation with the central project directorate in the Home Office, by the local authority concerned.

The Government are now considering the choice of further areas for the project's second phase.
