HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 cc635-6W
Mr. Fortescue

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will establish a committee of inquiry to investigate artificial limb manufacture and fitting, with particular reference to the needs of children.

Mr. Crossman:

I do not think this is necessary. I receive regular advice on all aspects of the artificial limb service from my Standing Advisory Committee on Artificial Limbs.

Mr. Fortescue

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with the standard of artificial limbs made for Her Majesty's Government in this country as compared to those made in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Jugoslavia and Israel of which details have been sent to him; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Crossman:

I regret that I have no record of receiving the details mentioned but I will consider them when they arrive.
