§ Miss Pikeasked the Minister of Public Building and Works what is the total expenditure carried on his Vote in respect of the publicly-owned research establishments; and how much of such expenditure in the current years is in respect of 553W each of the 20 establishments for which his departmental cost was largest.
§ Mr. John Silkin:My Ministry's accounts are not kept in a way which records all types of expenditure against each establishment and it would entail a disproportionate amount of staff time to produce individual estimates of expenditure for so many of them.
If the hon. Member will let me know of any particular research establishment for which this information is needed 1 shall be willing to consider whether it would be possible to extract the details of expenditure from available records.
