HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc393-4W
Mr. Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received requesting delay in the application of the Electrical Appliances (Colour Code) Regulations 1969; and what action he proposes to stake as a result.

Mr. Merlyn Rees:

My right hon. Friend has received representations from a num- ber of trade associations asking for a postponement of the date, at present 1st July, 1970, on which three core-flexible cords in the old British standard colours (red, black, green or green/yellow) ceased to be permissible on domestic electrical appliances offered for sale. My right hon. Friend proposes, subject to urgent consultations now taking place with all the interested bodies, to make amending regulations changing this date to 1st April, 1971 for sale by retail and 1st November, 1970 for other sales.
