HC Deb 14 May 1970 vol 801 cc308-9W
33. Mr. Peter M. Jackson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce amending legislation to require that in any investigations into complaints against the police under Section 49 of the Police Act, 1964, an investigating officer is required to interview and take statements from all complainants.

Mr. Elystan Morgan:

It is already the normal practice for persons who complain about a member of a police force to be seen by the investigating officer and invited to make a statement. I shall write to my hon. Friend as soon as possible about the particular case he has raised in correspondence.
