HC Deb 13 May 1970 vol 801 cc281-2W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the average annual subsidy in 1969 for each local authority house, paid from central Government sources and from local rates, respectively; and what was the average annual rent.

Mr. Ross:

In 1969–70 Government subsidies represented about £34 per house and, in 1968–69, rate subsidies about £50 per house, in each case averaged over all council houses. The average standard rent of council houses in November, 1969, was £65.
