HC Deb 07 May 1970 vol 801 c188W
Mr. Dickens

asked the Minister of Technology what is the estimated expenditure in 1970–71 on defence contracts arranged between his Department's research and development establishments and the universities, showing separately the amount attributable to each university.

Dr. Ernest A. Davies:

The Department expects to spend approximately £1 million during 1970–71 on university agreements sponsored by its research and development establishments. About £250,000 of this will be spent on wholly civil projects for the industrial research establishments. The balance, which relates to agreements sponsored by the aerospace establishments, consists mainly of research which has both civil and defence applications. At this early stage in the year it is not possible to say how the total amount will be apportioned between the various universities.
