§ Mr. Roebuck
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the total cost to public funds of measures taken by the Government of the United Kingdom in consequence of civil disturbances in Northern Ireland since April, 1969.
§ Mr. William Rodgers:
About £1.75 million in 1969–70. £250,000 of this was a donation to the Ulster Innocent Victims Appeal Fund, and the rest was expenditure by the Ministry of Defence.
