§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what studies he has instituted into alternative methods of remuneration of medical general practitioners, including payment by items of 127W service, as practised in other countries with a national health system, details of which are in his possession.
§ Mr. Ross:In the second report of the Government's discussions with the representatives of the profession on the doctor's Charter, the Government undertook, notwithstanding the difficulties they felt about payment by item of service, to continue to study this problem with a view to a limited experiment if mutually acceptable safeguards could be devised. No such experiments have been found to be possible.
