asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the percentage price increase on meat in the last 12 months.

Mr. Hoy:

The meat and bacon subgroup of the General Index of Retail Prices, derived from average retail prices collected by the Department of Employment and Productivity, rose from 133 on 18th March, 1969 (16th January, 1962= 100) to 144 on 17th March, 1970, an increase of about 8 per cent.
